How to apply HoopSkinz

Your HoopSkinz will arrive on a sheet with 8 (4 per each side of wheel) separate pre-cut decals as shown here.

HoopSkinz must be applied to a clean and dry surface! Do not install the decals in extreme heat or cold. HoopSkins are easier to apply if you remove your wheel from your bike and lay the wheel on a flat surface, a full-size trash can works great.

Hoop surface and hands must be free of all dirt, dust, lubricants, cleaners, adhesives, etc. For best results, clean your wheels with soap and water, then clean hoop surface with rubbing alcohol as last step before beginning installation.

  1. 1.  Peel one section of decal off of the white paper backing and tack the leading edge (the part that you will stick on first) to the wheel. Make sure the leading edge is square with the edge of the wheel to assure proper alignment around wheel. 1(a). If you are at all insecure about your installation capabilities, you can use a clean spray bottle with clean water to very lightly mist the adhesive side of the decal just before laying it on the rim. This will allow you to easily reposition the skin with minimal effort. If you use water, you must let the wheels sit for at least 24 hours after installation to let the water evaporate and the adhesive bond to the wheel. This method is HIGHLY recommended for full disc coverage application.

2.  Slowly lower the decal and rub it in place with your clean finger (or similar item with no sharp edges) as you make sure you are following the rim contour with the outside edge of the decal. Firmly rub the decal in place to make sure there is no air trapped under the decal.

3.  If there are air bubbles present under the decal that cannot be removed by working them to the edge of the decal with your fingers, then a small pin or needle can be used to puncture the decal at the bubble, and remove the air.  A small pinhole will not be seen after the air bubble has been worked out with the fingers.

4.  Again, firmly rub the decal in place with your clean finger (or similar item with no sharp edges), being sure to fix all edges and corners. Due to different wheel contours, some trimming of the final decal may be required to assure proper fit.

Maintenance:
Mild soap and water may be used to clean the wheels without damage to the decal.  The decal will not be damaged by normal use of bike wash products, or water.  Although the decals will withstand pressure washers, this will reduce the life and appearance of the decal.  HoopSkinz are quite durable, but please remember most any decal will not hold up to harsh chemicals and we will not be responsible for replacing decals damaged due to chemicals.  The decals will not last forever, but will give many years of service if taken care of.

Final Note:
The application of this vinyl decal requires a degree of dexterity, and concentration.  If you feel you cannot apply this decal yourself, any auto detailer, or body shop can apply it for you.  We cannot be responsible for replacing decals that have been damaged during application.
